Budget Commander Tier List
An entirely subjective ranking of a variety of different Commanders that have seen play in or around our tournaments. This list only ranks Commanders that are considered strong. Think of the entire list as S Tier Commanders that are then subdivided. A Commander not being on the list doesn’t mean they’re not viable.
The purpose of this list is to act as inspiration for those of you searching for a deck to play.
S Tier
Always a threat. Every deck needs to have an answer for these.
A Tier
Fantastic unique utility and raw strength.
B Tier
These often benefit from the budget restriction, as their synergies are cheap.
C Tier
Dangerous but have to make concessions to be so. These are most susceptible to budget shifts.
D Tier
Theoretically powerful but struggle because of the budget restriction.
F Tier
Commanders that are either unproven but have obvious potential, or have overperformed despite their lacking obvious potential. Bunch of weirdos basically. For each of these, either the right deck or day probably exists.
